Mystery movie star's art deco ring up for sale at Lang Antiques

A very rare Art Deco diamond ring, once belonging to a mystery movie star, is up for sale in San Francisco, and you'll only discover who, once you've signed on the dotted line...

Lang’s mystery 18.86 carat diamond ring

Lang Antiques in San Francisco is one of those exclusive emporiums which, once you're inside, you never want to leave.

Why would you? You might miss spotting yet one more exquisite estate jewel once worn by a famous actress, a society hostess or wife of a politician, or indeed a politician herself - and where had that jewel been with that person, what and who had it seen?

Founded in 1969 this estate jewellery flagship on San Francisco's main square is for jewellery collectors and is where those in the know go. It is one of the most important estate jewellers in the world, full of one-off pieces that span almost two centuries - early 1800s to late 1900s.

Suzanne Martinez

Co-owner Suzanne Martinez, gemologist and jewellery historian extraordinaire, curates the exceptional collection of jewellery that Lang has to offer.

At the recent estate sale, of a renowned Hollywood movie star, Suzanne spotted a magnificent Art Deco era engagement ring that had once belonged to this A-List actress. She immediately snapped up this remarkable diamond set platinum ring and cannot wait to find a romantic buyer: set with an 18.86 carat diamond and flanked by 46 European cut diamonds set on knife edge shoulders and around the shank, this is a very rare jewel.

“Oh, it is absolutely gorgeous!" Suzanne exclaims with excitement. "The classic Art Deco details are exquisite and diamonds this size are so rare. The stone has unique "personality" characteristics and performs with such scintillation, much like the person from whose estate it hails--a multi-award-winning A-list Hollywood actor.”

So, who did this 18 carat (and some!) corker once belong to? Suzanne is being very mysterious - the identity of the previous owner, an award-winning Hollywood actress, will only be revealed on purchase of this piece... so you'd better be quick, before Kim Kardashian buys it -after all, she is doing a good job of buying up iconic women's jewels!
